I'm in the market for hte FJ cruiser.. I'm contemplating which one.
I've driven manual for 10year through LA traffic, which kicked my butt.
I've driven auto for the last 10.. any advantage over the other? offroading
in manual is fun as hell. I used to go offroading around 5x a year, go snowboarding 5x+ a year etc.

Also depends on what 4wd system (transfer case) The manual uses full time 4WD with the option to lock the transfer case. The automatic is a part time 4wd system. The manual tranny is geared more toward the true offroad enthusiast. I got the manual as I live in snow country and prefer a clutch when dealing with some snowy icy conditions. Drove them both before purchase and both were excellent.

If you're an LA driver and not really going to take this thing on trails, you're better off going for the auto. If you do want to do some serious trail riding and don't mind messing with stick in traffic, you are better off with the manual.

Just my :2cents:
